Ironic that real working class folks (who don’t have awesome benefit packages and aren’t lobbying) are the ones who actually PAY for the excellent benefits packages of those “working class” gov’t employees.

I’m not a US citizen… I’m Canadian, and yes, i think our system of support for our citizens is much better, so I wouldn’t agree that “cutting benefits to the working class” help your country at all.
However, I don’t think making an issue of his salary is a good idea. You pay your politicians well for the same reason you should pay your police forces well.
It helps cut down on corruption.
I’m not saying that it doesn’t happen (because we all know that it does), I’m just saying that your country is were it is because corruption is much less tolerated than in most of the world. One of the reasons it’s you are less tolerant is because the people who have power also have responsibility and pay that goes with it.
