Most are from the old testaments which might not incorperate into today's life. Do not judge the whole book by a few phrases.

That's an immature interpretation of the real meaning of those versus.
Read between the lines mate, and keep in mind, how Jesus and God thinks (he not they) transcends all our puny minds, especially yours.
You don't get to say if that's wrong or right cause none of us know better, but fortunately we will be enlightened once we meet him, then everything will be clear.

Not to feed the trolls but, by your stunning and flawless logic, should I be able to find examples of atheists and/or agnostics who beat people, shame women or curse fig trees, we would then make the same jump in “logic” to state that the “chocolate” (aka good atheists) must be dumped within the “dung” (aka bad atheists), thus eliminating them all as dung. Did I follow accurately? Why don't you stick to posting the funny and leave the thinking to those of us qualified to do it?

annnnnnd this is where i unsubscribe from the “best” article everyday for it's immaturity and constant need to bash Christianity. I agree with @NoLie and @Rick, just stick with the funny

Only if we write it in a book, proclaim it 'inerrant', and decree that you will be tortured for eternity for not following our teachings.

If there were a “book of atheist rules” and it talked about all that, then maybe. However, there isn't, and the Bible is supposedly the book that all Christians should follow..at least that's what Christians they say when they protest gay marriage and tell gays God will never forgive them. I think his point is that there's a lot in the Bible that should NOT be taken literally, by example of the different ridiculous and seemingly UNholy quotes as given above. Although there's good in the Bible, there's clearly also not all good, and the Bible should not be used as an excuse for hate (like bashing gays) because as you can see, if we followed it letter by letter, a lot of us should be killed or sacrificed.

Yeah, there are easy ways to bash Christianity more humorously.

Honestly, there's more credible evidence of the existence of santa than of your ridiculous saviour!

And, no, I'm not an atheist (like that's an insult) – I'm raised Catholic, but decided to think rationally at around 8 or 9 years of age.

Respect people, revere nature, and do your best to make this a better place. Religion is out of the equation!!

Grow up – religious zealots think themselves so superior, but they are just like angry children who don't know any better.

I know many, if not most, are raised with the constant brain-washing of a righteous belief system, but please try for once to think about it like an intelligent, rational person unencumbered by the strong influence of adults on our impressionable young minds…

Actually, the statements seem quite straightforward and directive. The “real meaning” is right on the surface. You may not like the meaning, but it is what it is.

Now if this was Islam that was refered to, them we all would be accused of blasphemy. So my question is why is this not considered as blasphemy when christianity has been paradoxed like this. When is something not right to be said about a religion and right to say about a religion. I think that EVERY belief whether it is Christianity or Islam or Pagan or whatever it is all have skeletons in their so called holy books. It should be interpreted only by the reader and not shoved down everyones throats as gosple.

Thank God for the internet and the free speech it allows. We have a loving God who gives us every opportunity to be His, and bit like this can say what they think. I think this article pulls a lot of stuff out of context. If anyone really wants to know about God read the Gospels and make up your own mind.

I love how people are calling this out, saying that this article is bashing Christianity. It's pointing out flaws in the BIBLE, it even says so in the title. While you may believe that the Bible was inspired by God, the Bible was written by fallible, self-serving MAN. This article is simply pointing out fairly clear statements in the Bible that seem to go against traditional Christian belief, not that all those who follow Christianity are stupid.

I would go so far to say that if the poster had to comment on all these responses, they would tell you that they are not bashing Christianity, but those who take the Bible as a step-by-step guide to life, as opposed to a tool for their faith.

I'm still wondering why God sacrificed himself to himself to change a rule that he made.

Dude. I don't understand why people act like everything in the Bible is from Jesus and his boys.
You can't tell me after hundreds of years of the Catholic church using religion to control people that not one of them changed a line in the bible.
I'm pretty sure god doesn't give a shit if you eat meat during Carem or have sex before you get married. I'm sure he wants you to be a good person and not a freaking parasite to the rest of society.

Now pls tell us when are you doing this same trick on the koran.
You better fortify your house and send your children to a safe place before you guys do this, otherwise you will also be attacked like: theo van gogh, lars vilks, kurt westergaard etc etc etc. The list is endless.
And let us know when to expect: So what does the koran tell us?

  15. Rick Jessup

Incorrect. The flaw here is pulling random lines out of a book and claiming to understand it. There's not a single book I know of that you could understand based on the selection of a passages that serve your purpose. The truth here is that the vast majority of people who post things like this haven't ever attempted to actually read the Bible, nor go a step further and understand it. Which doesn't stop them from believing they know it all. It's unfortunate that you feel God, and Christians, hate gays and want them killed. But that statement alone shows how very little you understand what you're so against.

  16. Joshua Uribe

He is not going to make one on the Koran, as Islam is being bashed endlessly by supremacist idiots, and regular people too! It would be like making an article on why gays are bad, it would only feed trolls. Whereas this article, is on Christianity, or specifically, the Bible. Christianity: The majority. The good one. Christianity/Catholicism is not as great as many people think it is, and then they KILL.
P.S. I became atheist around 11, what about you guys?
