There is probably nothing that we don't know about the Beatles already. (Can it really be 40 years since they ended?) But, here are a few items that I've always found amusing and/or interesting:

1. Ticket prices in 1965 to see The Beatles in concert at the Coliseum in Portland, Oregon were $4, $5, and $6 dollars. Their take for the concert was about $50,000 for the group. Their exorbitant backstage demands included four cots, an ice cooler and a television.

2. After the release of "A Hard Day's Night," the big star was Ringo. Some critics were comparing him to Chaplin.

3. At the height of Beatlemania, in 1964, the band got a new drummer, Jimmy Nicol. He substituted for Ringo, who had to have his tonsils taken out.

Like I said, I'm sure every one knows all this. But, I discovered a great site: beatlestrivia.com, that has some obscure facts, including one about Cher recording a tribute to Ringo when she was a teenager.

I didn't start out as a Beatles fan, but there is no denying what Paul and Ringo have often said: They were a f**king great band!
