That was a fun read. Thanks for digging that one out.
It’s curious how the author(s) predicted a series of tubes will solve the problems of the future:
- Store purchases by tube
- Hot and cold air by spigots from central plants in cities
- Hot and cold foods will be served to private houses by pneumatic tubes
Could you imagine what an eyesore all those above-ground tubes and pipes would be? It’s hard enough to sink all the basic utilities underground and maintain them throughout the hot/cold cycle seasons.
Noticeably missing:
- Tubes as people movers (Futurama)
- Flying cars (I want my flying car, dang it!)
