Behold: The second annual “best of” list is in! Rounding up this year’s top images was no easy task with our hosted images being viewed more than 68 billion times! We reviewed all of the images that went viral – making us laugh, think, and (not that we would admit it) cry.<\/p>\n

After Hurricane Irene hit Puerto Rico in August, the streets were so flooded that a shark managed to be swimming around. This image, after being tweeted more than 12 thousand times, wins the award for the most tweeted image of the year.UPDATE:<\/strong>\u00a0Don’t trust everything you see on the Internet… it turns out this image isfake<\/a>. However, that doesn’t change the fact that it was one of the most viral images of the year and still deserving of the #8 spot.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The year started off hard with the protests in Egypt. This image, taken by\u00a0Nevine Zaki<\/a>, shows Christians protecting Muslims while they pray during protests in Egypt, and was viewed more than 750,000 times.<\/div>\n
