Well, this is just stupid. Dorian Gray is a fictitious character created by Oscar Wilde. To the best of my knowledge, Wilde wasn’t schizophrenic and thus, probably knew that a fictional character isn’t going to reciprocate any sort of feelings he has.
Juli, I’m pretty sure that the assignment was of that nature, in other words the teacher required the student to write a letter from a creator to their character. I’ve had these types of assignments before and recognized the format. And really it seems pretty appropriate to me…
I think you may perhaps be the stupid one for failing to realize the humor of the letter. It is a poem. Do poems always need to be non-fiction? Pull your head out of your ass.
I second Megan’s statement. You are truly a moron. The poem was not insinuating that Wilde was schizophrenic. Authors will often base characters off of not only people they know, but people they wish to know. Wilde was a homosexual, and based Gray off of his picture of the ideal man.
Therefore, not only are you a freaking idiot for not realizing the humour in this, but also for not comprehending what Wilde or Zhao were trying to convey.

Why is this not appropriate? I think Derek “nailed it” so to speak… :-)

I was just reading about Wilde today. His inapprioprate quotations about women. His homosexuality and all. What a coincidence to find this

Oh my! Donøt you just hate it when people try to analyze in order to sound smart and end up sounding stupid?
I love this poem – so original and daring! A+ from me :)
Love the book, btw.
