This may be my naive, suburban upbringing popping out to say hello, but, aren't all of these things the small, almost negligible, trade offs we give everyday for citizenship in a reasonably safe and free country? Sure, you can't smoke pot in your living room, but you're allowed to speak out against the government, and I don't see people knocking down your door, murdering your family and then forcing you to serve in a war.

The only thing I have a real issue with in our government is welfare. I find social security tolerable. Elderly people who aren't able to fully support themselves with their savings and are unable to work should receive a little aid now and then, but these people who lie around their whole lives popping out kids and collecting welfare checks without giving anything back to society deserve to removed from it. I worked with a woman who was probably the only person in her family to A). Hold a job for longer than a year, and B). To have had less than three weeks unemployment in between jobs. The rest of her family was happily collecting checks from the government. (BTW, she was also the first person in her family to apply to and attend college, and she's paying her own way through it.)
I don't mind driving my friend to work when her car is in the shop, but I'll be damned if I'll drive her when she is fully capable of driving herself. We shouldn't have to support people because they're lazy.

Question: If you're drafted, do you receive pay like any other soldier?
